Tennis: All women's singles seeded players advanced in the early session of the day 5 of French Open 2014 as 6th seed Jelena Jankovic, 15th seed Sloane Stephens and 27th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova registered victories. Three times French Open semifinalist in 2007, 2008 and 2010, Jelena Jankovic faced some stiff challenge against Japan's Kurumi Nara in the first set.

Jankovic won it 7-5 and in the second set it all went Serbian's way, as she won 6-0 to move into the next round. 15th seed Sloane Stephens was not troubled at all against Slovenia's Polona Hercoq. The American eased past her opponent 6-1, 6-3 in just 1 hour and 14 minutes to reach the last 32.

2009 French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova was also a straight sets winner against Camila Giorgi of Italy, as she won 7-6, 6-3. Kuznetsova will face either 2011 Wimbldon champion Petra Kvitova or Marina Erakovic of New Zealand.
