Tennis - Former world no. 1 tennis player and Hall of Famer Monica Seles is engaged to 72-year-old Tom Golisano. Golisano announced the engagement during an appearance at an upstate high school on Thursday. The pair have been dating for five years now.
Golisano ran for governor on the Independence Party line in 1994, 1998 and 2002. 40-year-old Seles retired from the game in 2008. Seles burst on to the scene as a giggly-grunting 16-year-old in 1990 and won the French Open.
She went on to win seven of the nine grand slams between the 1991 and the 1993 Australian Open (losing in one and not playing in one) before a fan of rival Stefii Graf stabbed her in April 1993 in Hamburg . As a result of that incident, Seles was away from the game for more than two-and-a-half years and never returned to her earlier dominance.
