Wozniacki, Zvonareva and Safarova go through to the third round of Wimbledon

Tennis: Former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki, Former World No.2 Vera Zvonareva and 23rd seed Lucie Safarova have booked their spots in the 3rd round of the 2014 Wimbledon Championships. The 2009 US Open finalist Wozniacki needed only 59 minutes to outdo Britain's Naomi Broady in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

Wozniacki will face Croatia's Ana Konjuh for a place in the 4th round. Wozniacki had reached the 4th round of Wimbledon in 2009, 2010 and 2011 but it is the only Grand Slams where she has never reached Quarterfinals. 2010 Wimbledon and US Open finalist Vera Zvonareva won a match at a Grand Slam for the first time in 2 years, as she came out on top in a marathon and gruelling contest against another British player Tara Moore.

Zvonareva won 6-4, 6-7, 9-7 in 2 hours and 43 minutes to reach the 2nd round. She had reached 3rd round of 2012 Wimbledon but after that she played only one Grand Slam, which was this year's Australian Open and there she lost in the first round. 23rd seed Lucie Safarova won in straight sets 7-6, 7-5 against Slovakia's Polona Hercog.
