Tennis: World No.3 Simona Halep and last year's finalist Sabine Lisicki are set too clash in the Quarterfinals of the 2014 Wimbledon Championships after earning victories in the 4th round over their Kazakh opponents Zarina Diyas and Yaraslava Shvedova respectively.
Halep has become second player to reach atleast Quarterfinals of every Grand Slam this year whereas Lisicki is the second to reach Quarterfinals in the last 5 appearances at Wimbledon. Eugenie Bouchard is the first to match Halep's feat and Petra Kvitova is the first to match Lisicki's feat.
French Open finalist Halep reached the first Quarterfinals at Wimbledon, like she did at Australian Open and French Open earlier this year. She did not face much resistance 19-year-old Zarina Diyas from Kazakhstan, who was playing in her first 4th round match at any Grand Slam and was making first appearance at Wimbledon.
Halep broke Diyas in the third game of the first set and then again broke in the 9th game to take the first set 6-3. In the second set, as she outplayed her young opponent by handling her a bagel, 6-0. She completed the win in 3 minutes less than an hour.
Last year's finalist Lisicki was broken in the first game of the match but she broke back immediately and broke again to take the first set 6-3. Her Kazakh opponent Shvedova bounced back to take the second set 6-3 but Lisicki won the 3rd set 6-4 to reach 5th consecutive Wimbledon Quarterfinals.
