Tennis - Former world no. 15 Kaia Kanepi, whose career has been dogged with injuries, has won the $100K Open GDF Suez de Biarritz. The Estonian, the top seed this week, defeated Brazil's Teliana Pereira 6-2, 6-4 to capture the singles title this week.
Pereira also went down in the doubles final with partner Spain's Lourdes Dominguez Lino to Argentine Florenica Molinero and Stephanie Vogt 2-6, 2-6. Kanepi is currently ranked no. 66 in the world and has been playing on the ITF circuit as well as she aims to recapture her fitness and form that led her to the top 20 in 2012.
