Andrea Petkovic overcomes Shelby Rogers to win the title in Bad Gastein

Tennis: World No.20 Andrea Petkovic has beaten the first time finalist Shelby Rogers in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 to win her career's 4th WTA title at the Nurnberger Gastein Ladies tournament in Bad Gastein. The 4th seed, Petkovic was facing the American qualifier, Shelby for the first time, who had beaten second seed and 2012 French Open finalist Sara Errani in her career's first WTA semifinals.

On her way to reaching the final, Shelby had also beaten this year's French Open Quarterfinalist and World No.16 Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain. After beating 3rd and 2nd seed, she was up against the 4th seed Petkovic. The former world No.9, Petkovic was broken by the World No.147 Shelby in the third game of the match but the German broke back in the next game to make it 2-2.

Petkovic broke Shelby again in the 8th game to go 5-3 up and held her serve to take the first set 6-3. In the second set Petkovic broke Rogers twice to go 3-0 up Rogers got one break back in the 4th game. Petkovic broke Rogers once more to go 5-2 up but could not hold her serve as Rogers made it 3-5.

But the French Open semifinalist broke Rogers there to take the set 6-3 and also grabbed the trophy with it. This is her second title of the year after winning in Charleston in April.
