Caroline Wozniacki wins first title of the season at Istanbul Cup

Tennis - Top seed and former world no. 1 Caroline Wozniacki has won her first title of the 2014 season, beating second seed Roberta Vinci to win the WTA Istanbul Cup on Sunday. The Dane needed only 70 minutes to win the match 6-1, 6-1.

This is the Dane's 22nd career singles title and will certainly be a morale-boosting win for her after a difficult season which saw her drop oout of the top 10 in the world rankings and also see marriage to golfer Rory McIlroy getting called off.

The win also levels their career head-to-head at 2-2. Vinci was unable to convert any of her six break point opportunities in the match on the Dane's serve and also struggled to hold her own. This is the seventh year in a row that Wozniacki has now won a WTA title.

Meanwhile, Misaki Doi and Elina Svitolina won the doubles title, beating Oksana Kalashnikova and Paula Kania, 6-4, 6-0 in the final. ALSO READ - MONA BARTHEL WINS FIRST TITLE OF THE SEASON IN BASTAD
