Tennis - Germany's Anna-Lena Friedsam has won the WTA Suzhou Ladies Open - a WTA $125K Challenger event - the biggest title of her young career so far. The fourth seeded Friedsam defeated local favourite Duan Ying-Ying in straight sets to win the title without dropping a set in five matches. She had beaten top seed Jana Cepelova in the semi-finals on Friday.
The 20-year-old Friedsam has won 10 titles on the ITF circuit. Friedsam is currently ranked No. 100 in the world and will climb to a new career-best ranking next week. Meanwhile, the Chinese Taipei duo Chan Chin-Wei and Chuang Chia-Jung won the doubles title, with a win over Japanese duo Misa Eguchi and Eri Hozumi 6-1, 3-6, 10-7.
