Tennis: Fourth seed and world No.16 Andrea Petkovic was shocked by Camila Giorgi in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of the Generali Ladies WTA tournament in Linz, Austria. The French Open semifinalist lost against her Italian opponent for the third time this year.
World No.42 Giorgi had beaten Petkovic by exactly the same scoreline at this year's Dubai Championships and then in 3 sets in Indian Wells. Even though Giorgi served 6 double faults in the match, she was not broken in the whole match and converted 4 out of 5 break points to stun the German.
Seventh seed Karolina Pliskova earned a straight sets 6-2, 6-4 win over the 2013 Wimbledon semifinalist Kirsten Flipkens to book her spot in the second round.
