Tennis: Top seed and world No.6 Eugenie Bouchard advanced into the second round easily but the third Dominika Cibulkova and fifth seed Sabine Lisicki were ousted from the Generali Ladies WTA tournament in Linz. This means Bouchard is the only player among the top 5 seeds of the tournament to stay in the draw.
Second seed Ana Ivanovic withdrew because of injury and fourth seed Andrea Petkovic was defeated yesterday. 20-year-old Canadian, Bouchard was far from impressive on her serve as she was broken three times in the match, but still she won 6-4, 6-1 against Patricia Mayr-Achleitner in the first round.
The Australian Open finalist, Dominika Cibulkova won the first set 6-2 against Germany's Anna-Lena Friedsam, but lost the next two 6-3, 6-4 to bow out of the tournament. Last year's Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki also lost a close encounter against Karin Knapp in 3 sets 7-5, 2-6, 7-6.
