Tennis: Defending champion and top seed Samatha Stosur is through to the Japan Women's Open WTA Tournament in Osaka for the fourth time and she will face the fifth seed Zarina Diyas. Stosur will be going for third Osaka title as she won the event in 2009 and 2013 whereas the 20-year-old Kazakh Zarina Diyas will be playing in her first WTA final of the career.
The Australian faced third seed Elina Svitolina in the semifinals. The Ukrainian was double break up in the first set as she led 4-1, but then Stosur made a comeback to make it 5-5. The set was decided by a tie-break which Stosur won 8-6.
The second set was one-sided as Stosur broke Svitolina twice to win it 6-2 and booker place in the final. In the second semifinals, Diyas took revenge of two losses against Thailand's Luksika Kumkhum. Thai had beaten the Kazakh in straight sets twice last year, but this time Diyas won 6-2, 7-5.
