Alison Riske wins her first WTA title by denying Belinda Bencic in Tianjin

Tennis: Alison Riske has won her first WTA title of the career after denying the 17-year-old Belinda Bencic in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in the final of the Tianjin Open in China. The US Open Quarterfinalist Bencic was also looking for her first WTA title, playing in her first final and was vying to become youngest WTA title winner since 2006.

It was first meeting between 24-year-old Riske and the Swiss. Riske broke Bencic in the third game and the fifth game to go 4-1 up. Bencic got one break to make it 4-2 but Riske got another break in the ninth game to take the first set 6-3.

In the second set, the American got an early break once again to go 4-1 up, but Bencic made a comeback to make it 4-4. Riske saved a break point to hold her serve in the nith game and put pressure on Bencic's serve by making it 5-4.

The teenager could not sustain pressure and was broke there as Riske completed the win in 1 hour and 20 minutes. Also Read: Belinda Bencic and Alison Riske to clash in the final in Tianjin Also Read: Jelena Jankovic and Belinda Bencic start as favourites for WTA Tianjin Open
