Tennis: Fourth seed Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, sixth seed Roberta Vinci and eighth seed Monica Niculescu have moved into the second round of the BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open. Wimbledon Quarterfinalist Barbora Zahlavova Strycova faced Spain's Silvia Soler-Espinosa, who she had beaten in all four previous meetings in straight sets.
Once again Czech won in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to reach the second round. World No.43 Roberta Vinci was up against world No.84 Tereza Smitkova. The Italian brushed aside the Czech inside an hour 6-1, 6-3. World No.47 Monica Niculescu also earned an easy straight sets win over the German wildcard Antonia Lottner 6-2, 6-2.
