Tennis: World No.31 Barbora Zahlavova Strycova and world No.60 Annika Beck have reached the final of the BGL BNP Paribas Open WTA Tournament in Luxembourg. The fourth seed Zahlavova Strycova, who had reached the Quarterfinals in Wimbledon this year, earned second consecutive win against Mona Barthel.
The German had beaten the Czech in first three meetings, but Barbora Zahlavova Strycova won the last meeting in Cincinnati this year. Once again Zahlavova Strycova came out on top in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 as she saved the only break point she faced in the match and converted 4 out of 9 break points.
Another German, Annika Beck reached the Luxembourg final for the second year in a row as she thrashed the Czech qualifier Denisa Allertova 6-0 6-1. Beck had reached her first WTA final here last year and this is her second WTA final of the career.
Barbora Zahlavova Strycova will be playing her fifth WTA final, vying for her second title. Their only previous meeting was in the first round of the 2012 Luxembourg tournament, which Beck had won in 3 sets.
