Russia´s Vitalia Diatchenko Wins WTA Taipei Open For Biggest Career Victory

Tennis - 24-year-old Russian Vitalia Diatchenko has won the WTA Taipei Challenger - the biggest title of her career - on Sunday. Diatchenko defeated local favourite Chan Yung-Jan, coming from a set down to win 1-6 6-2 6-4.

Chan, who needed a wildcard to play the event, broke serve twice in the final set but each time Diatchenko fought back before breaking for a third and final time for the win. The 24-year-old Russian is currently ranked No.

108 in the world and will break into the Top 100 for the first time in her career on Monday following her win. The Russian has won 3 ITF titles this year, besides reaching the final in three others - and also reached the quarter-finals of the WTA Kremlin Cup last month as a qualifier.

She has now won 19 of her last 21 matches on the circuit. Chan did walk away with a title on Sunday though as she won the doubles title with Hao-Ching Chan. They beat Chang / Chuang 6 - 4, 6-3 in the doubles final, also on Sunday.
