Simona Halep cruises into the Quarterfinals of the Australian Open

Tennis: World No.3 Simona Halep has cruised into the Quarterfinals of the 2015 Australian Open Championships with a straight sets 6-4, 6-2 win against Yanina Wickmayer in the fourth round. The Romanian had reached the Quarterfinals here last year too, which was her first last 8 appearance at a Grand Slam, and now she has done it again.

Halep had met Wickmayer three times in the past and surprising the Belgian was winner in straight sets on all three occasions. But all those meetings were before 2013, when Halep had not broken into top 10. Halep had a break point in the first game of the match, but Wickmayer saved it to hold her serve, but she could not save break points in the third and the fifth game, as Halep got double break to go 4-1 up.

Wickmayer got one break back but that was not enough, as Halep took the first set 6-4 in 47 minutes. The Belgian hit one winner more (14) than Halep's 13 but she also made almost double unforced errors (15) than Halep's 8.
