Tennis: Fifth seed Carla Suarez Navarro gave walkover in the final, so the third seed Andrea Petkovic has won the BNP Paribas Fortis Diamond Games in Antwerp, and has made her way back into the top 10 of the world rankings after 3 years. The Spaniard, Suarez Navarro said that she tried her best to be able to play the final but she was not fully fit which is why she decided not to play and gave a walkover.
She said she had a great week here. Suarez Navarro had a pain in the neck. Petkovic told that she was shocked to hear about her opponent's pain and withdrawal as she wanted to win by playing. She wanted to fight for the victory and she was also sorry for Suarez Navarro. The tournament officials decided to have an exhibition match between Petkovic and the tournament director, former world No.1 Kim Clijsters.
Crowd was entertained as they played a set, in which winner had to take five games. Clijsters won it 5-3. Petkovic joked about it and said she is happy that Clijsters is not on tour anymore. Petkovic was in top 10 before for 26 weeks from August 8, 2011 to April 1, 2012 and she has come back after almost 3 years.
