Tennis: Three seeded players Roberta Vinci, Sloane Stephens and Ajla Tomljanovic were knocked out from Abierto Mexicano Telcel WTA Tournament in Acapulco in the first round on Monday. Sixth seed Roberta Vinci was playing against Kiki Bertens, when the Italian retired at 6-5 in the first set.
On the other hand Vinci's doubles partner, second seed Sara Errani was not troubled much as she got through in straight sets with a 6-1, 6-3 win over the Czech qualifier Lucie Hredecka. Errani needed only 69 minutes to go through and she broke Hradecka 6 times in 8 service games.
The Czech served 7 double faults. She will face 21-year-old Puerto Rico native Monica Puig next. Third seed, 21 year-old promising Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia also go through in straight sets with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Polana Hercog. Garcia won 84% points on her first serve and was not broken throughout the match.
