Tennis: Former World No.1s Venus Williams and Victoria Azarenka stunned the World No.8 Agnieszka Radwanska and World No.5 Caroline Wozniacki respectively to set up a semifinals clash in Dubai. The top seed, Petra Kvitova was also sent packing as she was beaten by the ninth seed Carla Suarez Navarro. Kvitova took the first set 6-3 and it looked like she was crusing towards the victory.
But then Suarez Navarro did an amazing job by giving a bagel (6-0) to Kvitova and kept the momentum going to take the decider 6-3 and moved into the semifinals. Suarez Navarro will face Lucie Safarova now, who outplayed the latest top 10 entrant, sixth seed Andrea Petkovic in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. In a clash of former World No.1 players, Victoria Azarenka and Caroline Wozniacki faced eachother.
Their head-to-head record was tied at 4-4 but Azarenka had won their last meeting in straight sets when they met in the second round of the Australian Open last month. Once again it was Azarenka who came out on top in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 in just 1 hour and 32 minutes.
The Dane was poor on her serve as she held only 2 out of the 8 service games in the match. Also Read: Petra Kvitova, Victoria Azarenka and Caroline Wozniacki go through in Doha Also Read: Venus Williams survives a scare. Andrea Petkovic also goes through in Doha
