Tennis - Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky has won the WTA Abierto Mexicano TELCEL Open in Acapulco - her first title in six years on the women's tour, capping an incredible comeback to the game after almost quitting the sport in 2013.

Bacsinszky defeated the third seeded Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia 6-3, 6-0 in just over an hour - winning the final eight games of the final in a row. The Swiss player was ranked as high as No. 37 in the world in 2010 before injuries saw her ranking plummet.

She started last year ranked outside the Top 200 and in February, she moved up all the way to no. 36 in the rankings - a new career-best. Her win on Saturday will take her to a new career-high ranking once again. 25-year-old Bacsinszky said that she is proud of her efforts having comeback after going through a very low phase.

She is now 13-2 for the season - having also reached the final in Shenzhen in January and helping the Swiss to a Fed Cup win over Sweden.
