Ana Ivanovic and Sara Errani race into the Quarterfinals in Mexico

Tennis: Former World No.1 Ana Ivanovic and second seed Sara Errani are safely through to the Quarterfinals with straight sets win in the Abierto Monterrey Afirme WTA Tournament in Mexico. The top seed Ana Ivanovic took one step closer towards defending her title, as she cruised past the world No.103 from France, Pauline Parmentier in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 in just 66 minutes.

This is her third win in 3 matches against Parmentier and the scoreline was exactly the same, as it was when they met in Linz last year. 2012 French Open finalist Sara Errani also was not troubled at all, as she took just 73 minutes to outdo the Hungarian qualifier Timea Babos in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Babos had beaten Errani in 2012 semifinals here in Monterrey.

Former World No.2 and 2-time Grand Slam finalist Vera Zvonareva was taken out in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 by Kristina Mladenovic. The eighth seed Magdalena Rybarikova edged Polana Hercog in a thriller 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(9).
