Tennis: Former World No.1 and top seed Caroline Wozniacki is through to the semifinals of the BMW Malaysian Open WTA Tournament in Kuala Lumpur after beating Carina Witthoeft in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 in the Quarterfinals. The Dane was up against the promising 20-year old German youngster Witthoeft, who gave a tough competition in the first set and had two break points in the match, but the world No.5 Wozniacki was too tough for her as she won in straight sets in just 72 minutes. Wozniacki will face the 2012 champion Su-Wei Hsieh next, who won the first set 7-6(4) against the Russian qualifier Elizaveta Kulichkova. The Russian took the second set 6-4 to force the match into the decider but the Taiwanese turned on the Pro mode in the third set and won 22 points in a row to go 5-0, 30-0 up in the third set.
She won the third set 6-0 to go through to the last 4. The fourth seed Jarmila Gadjosova also got through, as she edged the sixth seed Kurumi Nara in 3 sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. She will face Alexandra Dulgheru who defeated the eighth seed Julia Goerges, 7-6(5), 7-5.
