Coming into her 16th appearance at the Miami Open, Venus Williams made easy pickings of her first round opponent as she got past the qualifying Urszula Radwanska in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. However, there is a lot of room to improve for the American who is seeded 16th in the tournament.
Williams lost her serve three times and committed an ample number of 21 unforced errors. But despite all of these mistakes, the American barely needed an hour to dispatch away Radwanska who simply had no answer for Williams’s powerful ground-strokes.
The win for Williams improved her record at Key Biscayne to 55-13 as both the sisters enjoy playing here in Florida. Venus has previously won the Miami Open three times but that was a long time ago back in 1998, 1999, and 2001.
On the other hand, Urszula’s sister Agnieszka Radwanska advanced into the third round as she beat Anna Schmiedlova in straight sets. Also Read: Miami Open - All the Results from Thursday: A bad day to be a Major champion
