Karolina Pliskova reaches final in Prague!

In the first semi-final at Prague, top-seed Karolina Pliskova defeated Yanina Wickmayer in straight sets to advance to the finals. The native favourite won 6-4, 7-5 in one hour 27 minutes and will face Lucie Hradecka in the final showdown.

It was a match with shaky momentum, with each player struggling to sway the match in her favour. Pliskova was however the marginally more consistent of the two and despite her erratic game, was able to convert the result in her favour.

The Czech hit 11 aces and had one double fault, while the Belgian had nine aces and four double faults. Pliskova served in 68% of her first serves to Wickmayer’s 61%, but was able to win only 67% points off them as compared to her opponent’s 75%.

Pliskova converted four of the 12 break points she had on Wickmayer’s serve and saved six of the eight break points on her serve. She also won 77 points for the match to her opponent’s 68. In the second semi-final between two compatriots, Katerina Siniakova and Hradecka, the latter won 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in one hour 51 minutes.

Hradecka hit seven aces and two double faults, while Siniakova hit four aces and had one double fault. Hradecka served put in 62% of her first serves and 76% points, while Siniakova put in 74% of her first serves and won 64%.

Hradecka converted six of the eight break points she had on Siniakova's serve and saved six of the 10 break points on her serve. Totally, Hradecka won 91 points, while Siniakova won 78 points for the match. Also Read Marion Bartoli's thoughts on French Open
