Francesca Schiavone knows what it is like to win a Grand Slam tournament after for years or months someone said you could never do it. The Italian was almost 30 when she won her maiden Grand Slam title beating Sam Stosur at the 2010 French Open.
Francesca became the first ever Italian woman to conquer a Grand Slam tournament, the first - man or woman - from her country to win a major since Adriano Panatta had done the same in 1976 in Paris. Now Schiavone has been followed by Flavia Pennetta, who won the women's singles title at the US Open yesterday beating Roberta Vinci in the first ever All-Italian Grand Slam final.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the 35-year-old talked about Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. "Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are great, they are very good, but Roger Federer is just from another planet.
Roger is a genius. He enters on court not to win but to have fun and enjoy every moment". ALSO READ Federer-Djokovic US Open Final Preview
