Su Wei Hsieh and Kateryna Bondarenko Advance to Japan Open Quarter Finals

Tennis - Hsieh Su-Wei defeated Japan"s Kurumi Nara 6-2, 6-4 to move into the quarter-finals of the Japan Women"s Open Tennis 6-2, 6-4. She will meet Magda Linette for a place in the semi-finals after scoring a 6-2, 7-5 win over second seed Zarina Diyas.

Ukraine"s Kateryna Bondarenko continued her comeback from giving birth to her first child and moved into the quarter-finals with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 win over Australian Jarmila Gajdosova. She next meets Belgian Yanina Wickmayer.

China"s Saisai Zheng also moved into the quarter-finals as she knocked out American Irina Falconi 6-4, 6-2 for a place in the last eight. Zheng will meet American Christina McHale for a place in the semi-finals. American Madison Brengle and Croatian Alja Tomljanovic, who won their second round matches in Wednesday, complete the quarter-final line up.
