According to Tennis Magazin, Andrea Petkovic has officially hired Jan de Witt as her new coach. De Witt, who never coached on WTA Tour, is Gael Monfils's former coach and he is now also coaching Gilles Simon 'Jan is very precise, very structured, and he uses a lot of video analysis - Petkovic told @WTAInsider in Zhuhai - He is very determined, and he knows where he wants to lead me as a player.' This year Petkovic opened season with defeats in the first round at her first three tournaments of the year, including the Australian Open.
However, she bounced back with two wins in the Fed Cup, which helped Germany reaching another semifinal after defeating Australia. Petkovic followed that form to win her Premier title in Antwerp, saving eight match points in the second round.
By virtue of this success, Petkovic broke back into the Top 10 for the first time since the 2012 Miami fortnight.For being a finalist in Antwerp, she received a bye in the first round at the Dubai, but lost to Zarina Diyas in the second round.
Next week, Petkovic revenged on Diyas in Doha, but lost in quarterfinals to Lucie Šafářová. After losing in second round in Indian Wells to qualifier Lesia Tsurenko, Petkovic regrouped and reached semifinals of Miami Open.
She beat Ekaterina Makarova and Karolína Plíšková en route. At Wimbledon she reached the third round losing to Zarina Diyas 5:7 4:6. After losing to Suarez Navarro, she said she didn't know if will continue to play tennis but in a recent interview she assured that will compete for the whole 2016.
