Two last WTA events are being played this week, before the season-ending WTA finals, in Singapore and the WTA Elite Trophy, In Zhuhai take place next week concluding the 2016 WTA season. Of these two tournaments, in Moscow and Luxembourg, Luxembourg’s points don’t get factored in for a qualification spot in the WTA finals, which has been re-opened since Serena Williams’ withdrawal from it.
For Svetlana Kuznetsova and Carla Suarez Navarro, both of whom who are playing in Moscow, the last WTA Premier tourney of the season, this week as the top-two seeds, winning the tournament wins them a ticket to Singapore.
If neither of them win, world no. 9 Johanna Konta will qualify for her first WTA finals.
