Good news for Petra Kvitova. Through her official Instagram account the Czech player announced that her name will appear on the entry list for Roland Garros because she 'had made good progress in my recovery process and I want to give myself every last opportunity to be able to compete at one of my favourite events', wrote Kvitova, who got her left hand injured following an aggression at her home on December 20.
'This unfortunately does not mean necessarily that I will be ready to play in Paris, but that I'm doing everything possible to give myself the chance and keep a positive mindset. There remains a long road ahead but I wanted to share this update with you.
Thanks for your continued support and I hope to see you soon'. Kvitova, who has not been playing an official match since WTA Zhuhai last November where she won the title, is currently training in Lanzarote. As for the rest of the entry list, all the 107 ranked players are committed to play, including Francesca Schiavone who got denied a wild card by Rome event in her last season on the Tour.
Alja Tomljanovic is the only player who will use protected ranking at the moment in the main draw.
