American youngster Christina McHale knocked out former world no.1 Caroline Wozniacki in the first round of the AEGON International at Eastbourne. McHale upset the no. 3 seed Wozniacki 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 for the win in 2 hours and 31 minutes.
Wozniacki was playing under the watchful eyes of new coach Thomas Johansson, a former Australian Open men's champion. Wozniacki followed top seed Ageniszka Radwasnka and second seed Petra Kvitova on the sidelines as both the top two seeds were also upset on Tuesday in the first round.
