Maria Sharapova enjoyed an easy day at the office at Wimbledon on Friday, easily beating Su-Wei Hsieh 6-1, 6-4. The Russian served poorly, at one point letting a second serve bound before even reaching the net, but had little trouble against her overwhelmed opponent.
"Considering the conditions, I'm pretty happy with the way I played," she said after the clash. In other action, Kim Clijsters beat Vera Zvonareva when her opponent withdrew while trailing 6-3, 4-3. Sabine Lisicki also advanced, beating Sloane Stephens 7-6, 1-6, 6-2.
