Caroline Garcia qualified for WTA Finals as Konta withdraws from Moscow

Johanna Konta doesn't recover in time for WTA Premier Moscow that will take place next week, due to a left foot injury that already forced her to skip Hong Kong and so Caroline Garcia is officially the eighth and last player to qualify for WTA Finals in Singapore.

The French, who won Wuhan and Beijing titles, had withdrawn from Tianjin due to a left thigh injury and fatigue, and she was denied a wild card from Moscow that prefers Russian players Garcia joins Simona Halep, Garbine Muguruza, Karolina Pliskova, Elina Svitolina, Caroline Wozniacki, Venus Williams, Jelena Ostapenko in the field.

Konta would have needed to reach Moscow final, it means winning three matches, to qualify, but now she can play only WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai. Also Svetlana Kuznetsova, who is dealing with a left wrist injury, may not play in Moscow.

She is the only top 10 player in the field at the moment. .
