Rebecca Marino Comeback Delayed by Six Months

Tennis - Canada's Rebecca Marino will not be able to compete as planned in next week's Saguenay ITF event as planned as she has not complied with ITF administrative guidelines. The 26-year-old Canadian stepped away from the tour in February 2013 after finding the grind of the tour difficult to cope with but earlier this week, she announced that she was ready to come back.

However, according to ITF regulations, players who have signed their official retirement papers “may not return to compete in a covered event unless he/she has made him/herself available for out-of-competition testing for at least six months prior to the covered event in question, in accordance with the 2015 World Anti-Doping Code.” However, Marino did not inform authorities that she was planning to comeback and hence will need to wait six months in order to come back to the sport.
