Belinda Bencic dealing with new injury again, pulls out of Miami Open

Belinda Bencic has suffered another setback again. The Swiss player had returned to competition in style in September 2017 after a wrist surgery, by winning four titles. But, in 2018, she won just two matches and suffered four losses. At the Miami Open, she was supposed to face Veronica Cepede Royg, but she was forced to withdraw with a right foot injury. The 67th ranked Bencic will be replaced in the main draw by Oceane Dodin. The winner will face world no. 1 Simona Halep in the second round.

In Indian Wells, Bencic lost to the 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the second round. Bencic, who reached the eighth place in the rankings in 2015, is committed to play in Lugano, Switzerland, in April on clay.
