Turkish Junior Banned for 1 Year for Doping Violation

Tennis - A 15-year-old junior from Turkey, Zeynep Sonmez, has been charged with committing an Anti-Doping Rule Violation under Article 2.1, making her ineligible to play in any competition for a period of 12 months, commencing from 24 October 2017.

Sönmez provided the sample on 24 October 2017 while competing in the Republican Girls ITF Women's Pro Circuit event held in Istanbul, Turkey, according to the ITF website, and it was found to contain Modafinil and its metabolites, which comes under the WADA Prohibited List.
