Tennis - Czech player Lucie Safarova and American star Bethanie Mattek-Sands will reunite to play doubles at Wimbledon this year, the Czech player revealed on her official website. The two players have not played together since Mattek-Sands was injured at Wimbledon last year for which she underwent surgery.
In her absence, Safarova has played with compatriot Barbora Strycova and Svetlana Kuznetsova. Safarova and Mattek-Sands have won 5 Grand Slams together - the Australian Opens and Roland Garros titles in 2015 and 2017, and the US Open in 2016.
Wimbledon is the only title missing from their collection. They were hoping to complete their career Grand Slam at Wimbledon last year before the injury struck Mattek-Sands. The dup had won the Australian and French Open titles last year and were also hpping to make it three Slams in a row.
