Tennis - Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber and former World No. 1 Ana Ivanovic grace the cover of the February issue of VOGUE Deutschland, which comes out on January 8th. The issue will be released with a double cover - one featuring Kerber, who is photographed by Giampaolo Sgura and the second featuring Ivanovic and her husband, the football world champion Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Kerber, the current World No. 2, is currently in Perth for the Hopman Cup where she is partnering Alexander Zverev and the Germans have won both their encounters so far. Kerber will move to Sydney next where she is the defending champion and then on to the Australian Open, where she won her first Grand Slam title in 2016.
In the interview, Kerber says she is happy to have won Wimbledon at this point in her life and not when she was 20. "I am very happy that I have won Wimbledon now and not already at 20. After all the ups and downs I can appreciate the victory much more.
The next goals are still the Grand Slams: The tournaments I want to play my best tennis for. " Talking about life outside tennis, Kerber says, "The topic is currently very present in my circle of friends, I have the impression that everyone around me is marrying, building houses and having children, but I will not let that bother me - this is not a competition like in sports."
Thank you @VOGUE_Germany for the February cover ✨ It was so much fun spending the day in Milan - especially with the talented 📸 @giampaolosgura and his crew.
