Simona Halep has a different strategy than the one that brought her the long-awaited French Open title after her 2018 run. Simona’s new tactic may sound surprising, but it already got her past a tricky opponent in the likes of Ajla Tomljanovic.
The current Roland Garros champion revealed her feelings and her way of approaching this year’s French Open edition in an interview for Reuters. Simona looked like a player who lacks the nerve to win the French Open second time in a row.
She was asked to express her thoughts on her game plan from a champion’s point of view: “Doesn’t matter anymore what is going to happen. Everything comes now comes as a bonus. So I’ll try just to give my best and to see if I’m able to do it again”.
The former World No.1 is in a very good mood and she looks like she has no pressure on herself: “I am too happy to be in this position... it’s nothing bad. So I will try to do the things as a kid, enjoying the time.
I wanted this badly, and I wanted so much that now having it, I just want to be happy and to smile”. However, Simona pointed out that she is going to fight as she always did: “I fought hard and had many tough moments...
before lifting that trophy, but I am still motivated because my career doesn’t stay in a Grand Slam or ranking,”
