WTA - Maria Sharapova touches down in Melbourne for practice

Doubts on whether Maria Sharapova will play in the upcoming Australian Open have been allayed as the former world no. 2 made her way to Melbourne Park on Thursday for a practice session. The Russian pulled out of this week´s Brisbane Intenrational due to a collarbone injury resulting in speculation that she may not be fit to play in Melbourne.

But the Russian came in early to Melbourne and seemed to be in no physical discomfort as she started her practice sessions at the venue of the first Grand Slam of the season. Sharapova has won here in 2008 and is one of the favourites for the women´s title
