World no. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska and world no. 6 Li Na continued their perfect start to the 2013 season with wins in the second round of the WTA Apia International in Sydney. Radwanska won the WTA title in Auckland last week while Li Na won the title in Shenzen.
Both are now through to the quarter finals in Sydney. World no. 4 Radwanska had to battle hard against 42 year old Japanese veteran Kimiko Date-Krumm, 64 63 while Li Na was dominating in a win over countrywoman Ayumi Morita 6-1, 6-0.
Radwanska commented after her win, "I couldn't imagine a better start to the year. It was my first time in Auckland, and I had a really good couple of matches there, some really good preparation before coming here.
The goals every year are pretty much the same - being No.1 and winning the Grand Slams," she said. "Last year I was very close to both of them."
Li said her goal is to break into the top 3 of the world rankings.
"I really want to be Top 3 or win another Grand Slam. Me and my whole team will work so hard to reach it."
