Tennis - Fifth seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and seventh seeded Urszula Radwanska have advanced to the quarter finals of the WTA Whirlpool Monterrey Open in Mexico. The Russian Pavlyuchenkova scored an easy win over Croatian Tereza Mrdeza 6-1, 6-1.
The Russian had started the season well by reaching the finals in Brisbane in early January but has since struggled to advance deep in several other events. Seventh seeded Radwanska, sister of world no. 4 Agnieszka, scored a 6-4, 6-1 win over another Croatian Donna Vekic - only 16 years old and already a top 100 player.
Sixth seeded Yanina Wickmayer was beaten though, going down to Romanian Monica Niculescu in three sets while eighth seed Ayumi Morita did advance. SINGLES - SECOND ROUND
