Courier and Davenport: "Naomi Osaka will win many Slams"

The last event of the WTA Tour that saw the participation of Naomi Osaka was that of the Us Open in Flushing Meadows, in which the Japanese triumphed after the victory in the final over Victoria Azarenka. It was the third Grand Slam trophy for Naomi, who had already achieved success in New York a couple of years earlier.

The 23-years-old will participate at the Australian Open in a few weeks, an event won in 2019 in the final on Petra Kvitova. Naomi had already played there the fourth round three years ago, beaten by the Romanian Simona Halep in two sets.

In the last edition of the tournament, Osaka stopped in the third match against the very young Coco Gauff, who won 6-3 6-4.

Naomi Osaka's potential according to Jim Courier and Lindsay Davenport

The season that has just begun will once again be very difficult, due to the Covid-19 pandemic which required a quarantine period before being able to access an appointment on the circuit, with all the problems involved.

It was for this reason - let us remember - that former world number one Roger Federer preferred to give up in Melbourne after a year of absence on the Tour. Speaking of Osaka, three-time Grand Slam winner Lindsay Davenport said, as reported by EssentiallySports: "She was so candid about the pressure she feels and about everything she has had to go through.

But let's look at her game. She has this great combination of athleticism and power, in the last two years she has also learned consistency and that has allowed her to win the Grand Slams." The former American champion continued: “She is not afraid to work hard.

She is not afraid to change her game and listens to her coaches. I have the utmost respect for her." Even Jim Courier, winner of Melbourne and Paris, had his say about Naomi: “If she can keep herself in good health, I think it is quite likely that she will win another five to ten Majors, because she has that game from all over the court.

She is very concentrated, organized and professional, she only needs physical health; in that case she would have a spectacular career on and off the court." We have to recall that the greatests tennis stars on the planet, like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, Ashleigh Barty, Simona Halep and all the others, will come back for the upcoming Australian Open 2021, which will be held in Melbourne from 8 February: it will be the most awaited sports event of the first part of the new season.

It will be a very spectacualr season, and all of us hope without the problems of the last one, with some presence of the crowd in the courts across the world. Roger Federer, after he said he will not play the Australian Slam, should come back on the court, for the joy of his fans, at the end of February or at the beginning of March
