Soft debut, as was foreseeable, for the world number one Novak Djokovic. The Serbian suffers, relatively, only one set before defeating rookie Casper Ruud 7-6 6-2. A Djokovic still running in who, however, starts off on the right foot in a tournament that hasn't even seen him as a winner since 2015.
One of the most spectacular points, however, was brought home by the Norwegian tennis player, but it remains almost unbelievable how the Serbian fell, lost his racket, got up and was able to continue the point, then brought home by Ruud.
We recall that in the other match, Andrey Rublev defeated Stefans Tsitsipas in straight sets with a double 6-4. In the other group, wins came in the day-1 for Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev. Today they will come back on the court.
