A lot is happening on the Wimbledon 2022 Center Court these days. After the suffering of Novak Djokovic in the battle against the Italian Jannik Sinner, the Spanish champion Rafael Nadal is also struggling in his quarter-final.
The American Taylor Fritz has already won the first set and, above all, the Iberian does not seem to be in great physical condition. For long stretches of the second set, the winner of 22 Grand Slam titles struggled to move, especially to hit with the forehand, and to serve.
During a change of court, which followed a medical timeout, Maribel and Sebastian Nadal (Rafa's sister and father) made sweeping gestures towards the Majorcan to retire. However, Rafael returned to the courth, despite the physical problem, winning an epic match in the fifth set, and showing extraordinary courage and self-denial once again.
Here is the video released by journalist Simon Haring.
