Daniil Medvedev put on a great show on the Louis Armstrong Stadium, beating his opponent of the day, the Australian Christopher O'Connell, with a few too many problems. There are two moments that amused and annoyed the New York crowd during the match, naturally with the world number 3 as the protagonist.

After a few games, the Russian was back to arguing and provoking the crowd. This time the 27-year-old had to laugh at two female fans, who were walking in the stands looking for their place while he was about to serve: "Are you stupid or what," he yelles began to rail against the two.

One of the fans even blew him a kiss, before sitting back and allowing Medvedev to strike without distractions. The most incredible thing, however, happened after Daniil lost the third set in a tie-break. The Russian decided to ask for a medical timeout: upon arrival the doctor naturally asked him what the problem was and he replied that he would like to have what he had given to his rival some time before.

A scene never seen before but the 27-year-old is not new to this type of episode. Here is the video of what happened:

The matches

Carlos Alcaraz got the goal of reaching the third round at the US Open on the Italian night.

The Spanish number one freed himself in three sets from Lloyd Harris, who worried him but almost never gave the feeling of being able to conquer at least a partial. After a clear 6-3, 6-1, the South African managed to keep in touch with the 20-year-old from Murcia and only surrender in the tie-break for 7-4.

The reigning champion will now prepare to face the British Daniel Evans, recent winner of the ATP 500 in Washington. Andrey Rublev was not surprised by the French Monfils, settled in four sets, while Sascha Zverev overtook Altmaier in the all-German derby.

Victory in four sets also for Stan Wawrinka, Jannik Sinner's next opponent; quite clear successes for Cameron Norrie and Alex De Minaur. On the other hand, the adventure and career of John Isner ended, as he gave in to compatriot Mmoh in the tie-break of the fifth after being ahead 2-0.
