Chaos at the Laver Cup: Auger Aliassime and Monfils accuse each other!
by LORENZO CIOTTI
The Laver Cup, a competition created by Roger Federer, began on Friday 22 September 2023, and will end today, Sunday 24 September. The exhibition tournament, which brings together the best tennis players in circulation on the European and world scene, despite this year lacking many top players such as Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev, immediately provided a spectacle, also leading to some moments of tension.
This is the case of the match between Félix Auger-Aliassime and Gael Monfils, in which the Canadian prevailed.
The young tennis player from Montreal complained to the chair umpire about the show put on by the Frenchman with every point he won, also accusing him of delaying the start of the points with displays that distracted him.
The Parisian, resentful, accused him of a similar attitude. Here is the video shared on X by The Tennis Letter:
Auger Aliassime & Monfils got into a bit of an argument during their match at Laver Cup.
Gael felt like the atmosphere was a relaxed, fun environment.
Felix was treating it like a regular ATP tournament.
Does anyone speak French? 😂

The second day at the Laver Cup
The long-awaited Laver Cup continues unabated and Team World's clear dominance continues.
The boys of the red team led the team to 8-2 against Team Europe, undoubtedly poorer given the absences of all the big names on the circuit.
The Norwegian Casper Ruud tried to defend Team Europe, a tennis player who beat the American Tommy Paul without any particular worries.
In the first set Casper immediately goes 4-1 but lets himself come back and the two thus go to the tiebreak; final act of the very balanced first set where Paul has a set point but in the end with three consecutive points Team Europe closes 8-6.
In the second set nothing to say, Ruud plays an excellent performance and closes without any particular problems. His will be the only victory of the night for Team Europe.
Taylor Fritz responds immediately and with a similar result and a good performance he annihilates a dull Andrey Rublev.
6-2 7-6, result with reversed sets and the American finishes without problems.
The situation does not change and Frances Tiafoe also beats Hubert Hurkacz in two sets, one break in the first set and two (one at the beginning and one at the end) in the second set with the tennis player finishing 7-5 6-3.
The long-distance clash between Felix Auger Aliassime and Gael Monfils continues and this time they face each other in doubles. In this case, the pair made up of Hurkacz and Monfils gives way to the young talents made up of Felix Auger Aliassime and Ben Shelton, with Team World heading towards victory in this Laver Cup.
