Jannik Sinner was the superstar of the Davis Cup semi-finals. The young Italian talent beat Novak Djokovic twice, first in the singles match, then in doubles. Also present to watch the match between Serbia and Italy was Matteo Berrettini.

The former Wimbledon finalist was unable to arrive in good physical condition at the end of the season to be among captain Filippo Volandri's squad for the final stages of the Davis Cup. Despite the many difficulties he had, the Roman tennis player could not miss the appointment in Malaga to support and encourage his teammates during training and matches.

The 27-year-old player made an important moral contribution from the bench. At the end of the match against Novak Djokovic's Serbia, the former Wimbledon finalist greeted and affectionately embraced Jannik Sinner after his feat with Novak Djokovic and the double won together with Lorenzo Sonego.

The former world number 6 praised him and on social media compared him to an alien.

Matteo Berrettini shares a vary beautiful praise for his young countryman

"I always knew that Jannik would do all this. It's something you feel when you play with a high-level tennis player.

I would have liked to be at the Finals. More than anything, enjoy them like he enjoyed them. Italians will have to beat Australia to bring the trophy back to Italy after that famous 1976 edition. The first singles will perhaps be decisive. The Australian doubles team made up of Ebden and Purcell appears unbeatable on paper, while Sinner should respect the prediction against Alex De Minaur, who he has always defeated in previous matches as recently happened in the ATP Master 1000 in Toronto to win the title.
