Lloyd Geaorge Harris reached the quarter-finals of the ATP Antwerp, beating in two sets the young American Taylor Fritz with the final score of 7-5 7-6 (3), at the end of a very balanced match, decided by a few shots that they rewarded South Africa.
One of these happened in the first game of the second set, with the score on 0-0 (0-15). After the serve, the American tried to close the point by approaching the net, but Harris drove him back to the bottom of the baseline.
Fritz tried to settle the point with a tweener, but his opponent saved the point and won the point with a magnificent volley. Harris, 23-years-old, got this season his first ATP final, at the Adelaide International, losing in straight sets against Andrey Rublev.
In this season he reached his best placement in the Slams, reaching the second round at the US Open and at the French Open. In the quarter-finals of the ATP Antwerp tournament, Lloyd George Harris will meet the Frenchman Ugo Humbert.
