Stefanos Tsitsipas broke more than a spell tonight and, for the fourth time in his career, the second in a row at the Roland Garros, he reached the semi-finals in a Grand Slam tournament. The Greek tennis player had beaten Daniil Medvedev only once, at the ATP Finals 2019, in the total seven games played and had only taken home one of the last eight games played against a top 5, the last at the Australian Open 2021 against Rafael Nadal .

Both had never lost a quarter-final at Grand Slam level and it was up to Medvedev to stop this impressive statistic. The current number five in the world was flawless in the first set and dominated his duty. Suffice it to say that he only lost four points in total in batting: three with the first, one with the second.

After three interlocutors games, in which the two tennis players studied and analyzed each other, Tsitsipas also increased the pace in response and thundered Medvedev with a straight counterattack on the first break point of the dispute.

The Greek then threw a set point to the winds in the ninth game by sending a comfortable response over the baseline, but then closed without problems at 6-3.
