A stress fracture of the left third costal arch forced Rafael Nadal to stay in the pits for a good period of time, not that long, but not that short. Now he is ready to return to the field to compete in new competitive races in a very prestigious event on clay: the Master 1000 in Madrid, which will be an important test bed to test his current physical conditions, after a fantastic start to the season.
Nadal is called in next week to confirm his strength on the rest of the circuit in the home tournament. The Spaniard will begin the long journey of preparation in the capital that will lead him to play the Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of the year in which he will surely want to be the absolute protagonist.
Meanwhile, well-known New York Times reporter Ben Rothenberg released the first images of the Iberian athlete's training on Madrid's clay courts.
